Tweed Tractors-Tractor Show

Recently while cleaning out my fathers’ office we found an old photo album filled with Polaroid photos. The album included photos from the early days of the family business, Tweed Tractors, operating in Murwillumbah NSW.

Tweed Tractors started in the early 1980’s as a tractor dealership selling and servicing Shibaura Tractors. It also sold in the Tweed area Allis Chalmers, Universal Farmliner, and John Deere tractors. During the 1980’s the company acquired Subaru and Mitsubishi car franchises. Later on taking on the franchise for Mitsubishi-Fuso Trucks. I started my apprenticeship in the truck workshop in 1999. The company name changed to Bedser Automotive in early 2000’s with the development of a 2nd dealership in Tweed Heads. This part of the business including the car dealership in Murwillumbah was sold in 2007. Today the company trades as Murwillumbah Truck Centre and is a dealer for Daimler trucks which includes Fuso, Freightliner and Mercedes-Benz truck brands.

What brought interest to me in the album was the photos of vintage tractors at a show, asking my Dad he thinks it was at a show in Beenleigh QLD where Tweed Tractors had a display, most likely the early to mid 1980’s.

On this post you can see these photos of the Tweed Tractors display and some of the various vintage tractors there. Would be interesting to know where these tractors are today and what condition they are in. Anyone with any information please leave a comment.

Merry Chirstmas

Well Christmas time brings about the one year anniversary of Two Cylinder Vintage. A year ago I got this website as a gift from my wonderful wife. It's been a great year, thanks to all you readers and viewers of my blog, I have had just under 10,000 views over the last year, and about 25 daily views on average over the last month. Looking forward to 2013. Planing two tractor shows to attend in January and the national rally in Mudgee NSW in April. As well as the completion of restoration projects. To you and your families Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. God Bless.
